CFC
Any of various compounds consisting of carbon, hydrogen, chlorine, and flourine used as refrigerants. CFCs are now thought to be harmful to the earth's atmosphere.
Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs): Man-made gases contributing to stratospheric ozone depletion and global warming. They are being phased out under the Montreal Protocol (see Halons, TCE and HCFCs).
