Heat Affected Zone
The zone directly adjacent to the weld fusion zone in a longitudinal seam weld, circumferential tube-to-tube weld, and skelp-end weld. The mechanical properties in the heat affected zone (HAZ) are affected by the resultant heat produced during the welding process.
