Weight Indicator

Coiled Tubing: A device which measures the hanging weight of the tubing string and drag forces associated with deployment and retrieval of the tubing string. The weight indicator is typically installed at a location which measures the weight of the chain drive section and tubing deployed through the stripper assembly. The weight of the chain drive assembly is "zeroed" prior to deployment, yielding readings for load resulting from tubing weight and drag. HWO: The weight indicator is typically determined through the hydraulic pressure readings observed when operating the hydraulic jacks during tubing deployment and retrieval. Jointed Tubing Rigs: The weight indicator is typically installed at the base of the derrick and connected to the drill line (cable), taking the weight indication as a measurement of the amount of tension in the cable. The loads associated with weight of the traveling block and cable is "zeroed" prior to rig operations, yielding readings for load resulting from tubing weight and drag.
